Discipleship Training
"Discipleship Training” is an intentional happening to take you deeper spiritually.
For over one hundred years, parents have been sending their students to Sunday School to teach them the word of God. Our vision is much the same, yet with a twist. We want you to know the word of God, but we also want you to become a disciple of Christ. When you become a disciple you soak yourself with his teachings; you put into practice what you have learned; you become like your teacher, Jesus Christ.
Jewish Tradition tells us that a young man was called to be a disciple around the age of 13 or 14 and would then spend the next 12-15 years with his teacher learning from him. So when Jesus called his disciples, they were going in for the long haul. They wanted to learn as much as possible from their teacher.
We, too, want to learn from our teacher and become His disciple. By studying His word, we will become like him. Paul writes to the young Timothy, “All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (II Timothy 3:16)
Discipleship Training is not easy; we will all fail along the way, but training is about getting better, moving forward, pushing through the hard times. James tells us, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (James 1:22)
It is our desire to use this happening as a time for you to become a Disciple of Jesus, to learn, apply, and live out his teachings everyday.
